Clos du Rocher wine estate dates back to the 19th century. Emile Obrist acquired it in 1918. Clos du Rocher was indeed its favourite domain and Emile knew from the beginning that it an exceptional terroir for growing Chasselas. The successive winemakers of the estate have been regularly rewarded and distinguished during the Fêtes des Vignerons in Vevey. Today, Martin Suardet run the vineyard and Léonard Pfister – oenologist of Obrist house – manages the vinification. Clos du Rocher is an unsegmented vineyard of 10 hectares, where grows a majority of Chasselas (87%), the rest being Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Obrist house produces a renowned Chasselas, Clos du Rocher Grand Cru, and a red blend, Clos du Rocher Rouge Grand Cru. These emblematic wines, from Yvorne’s winegrowing area, are found on the finest tables in Switzerland and in the federal Palace’ cellar. In 2012, during the 1st edition of the Chasselas Worldwide Competition in Aigle, Clos du Rocher Grand Cru 2011 was recognised as the best Chasselas in the world.
